ABN AMRO uses the Global Sustainable Enterprise System (GSES) to gather verified sustainability information from their suppliers. ABN AMRO uses this information to realize their sustainable initiatives and ambition and to fulfill their CSRD reporting obligations.

ABN AMRO asks suppliers to provide information via the GSES platform. By registering, your organization you can provide ABN AMRO with the requested information. On this page, we explain what the GSES system entails, the ABN AMRO information request, and how to get started.

ABN AMRO
‘At ABN AMRO, sustainability is at the heart of our business model, and we are committed to creating a transparent and sustainable supply chain. Working with our suppliers is essential to achieve this goal. Together with you as a supplier, we strive to build a responsible and resilient supply chain. We look forward to your collaboration.’

About GSES

The GSES platform is a universal, sector-agnostic solution for measuring, rating and verifying sustainability performance across sustainability themes and scopes.

With a holistic approach, the platform covers sustainability on every front — from your own organization to your supply chain, products, and physical assets — while aiding in compliance with key legislation such as CSRD, EUDR, and DPP, among others.

All data on the GSES platform is verified by independent third parties, such as accredited certification bodies. This verification process is central to our mission: it prevents greenwashing and ensures fair, transparent, and comparable sustainability performance measurement and reporting across organizations.

FAQ

The verification results of the ABN AMRO Questionnaire are accessible to ABN AMRO.

The results of the EcoVadis validation based on the GSE-Metastandard and the GSES Co₂ assessment verification are accessible through your organization’s GSES ESG Scorcard, which is visible to full members.

Audit reports, contextual information, and supporting evidence related to validations and verifications are not shared with third parties, except with auditors from certification bodies.

The costs associated with the ABN AMRO request only cover the audits (validations/verifications). However, you can make use of the outcomes displayed on your GSES ESG Scorecard. Additional functionalities (modules) are available through separate GSES memberships

In the context of compliance, it is highly likely that you are contractually obligated to comply with ABN AMRO’s request. GSES works with various clients, where both mandatory requirements and voluntary requests may apply.

For a first-line validation, the process typically takes 2 business days.

A second-line validation can take up to 10 business days, and a verification generally takes between 10 and 15 business days, provided all information is submitted clearly, timely, and completely.

The EcoVadis certificate relates to a second-line validation, for which additional supporting documents are required. These will be requested after receiving the certificate and report.

ABN AMRO’s CSRD questionnaire and the CO₂ assessment both involve a verification.

  • Do you have an EcoVadis certificate?
Registering and uploading the certificate and audit report typically takes no more than a few minutes.
  • ABN AMRO’s CSRD Questionnaire and CO₂ Assessment:
Filling in the questionnaire and uploading the required evidence usually takes no more than one hour per section, provided all necessary context and documentation are readily available.

If you upload and submit additional certificates for validation to potentially improve your GSES ESG Scorecard, a GSES Limited Membership will be required.

To complete additional assessments, a GSES Pro Membership is required. These assessments can also be submitted for verification to potentially enhance your GSES ESG Scorecard.

The same applies to other modules.
