1 Why it matters

EUDR supports the EU’s broader climate and biodiversity goals by tackling a primary driver of environmental degradation: deforestation. By requiring companies to ensure that listed products are deforestation-free, the regulation aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions linked to land-use change, particularly from agricultural activity.

Ultimately, EUDR strengthens ecosystem protection and biodiversity, drives responsible and transparent supply chains, and supports the shift toward a more environmentally and socially responsible global economy.

2 For whom?

The EUDR applies to all operators and traders placing regulated commodities on the EU market or exporting them. Companies must ensure full traceability and prove products are deforestation-free. Large and medium firms must comply by December 2025; SMEs by June 2026.
