Step 1: Upload Certificates
Upload any certificates your organization already has onto the GSES platform.
Our METAstandard recognizes over 550 sustainability certificates, frameworks, and eco-labels. By uploading and then validating your existing certificates on the GSES System, they will automatically contribute to your GSES sustainability score.

What are First and Second Line Certificates?
First-line exemptions are granted to certificates audited by independent bodies under the supervision of the home country’s Accreditation Council (third-party verified). Second line certifications are those which lack an independent auditing process or are self-reported, for example. These certificates necessitate additional validation. You can do this with GSES- via our partnership with Audit Independer any of your exemptions can be checked for their validity.
Step 2. Get Your Certificates Validated
Only validated certificates will contribute to your score on the GSES system.
Once you have uploaded your certificates (or at the time of uploading), you can request a check for their validity. Your certificate will be sent to a third-party auditing institution for verification. This process will take 2 working days for ‘First Line certificates’ and 5 working days for ‘Second Line certificates’.
Good to Know!
Validations are performed on an entity-by-entity basis (Member) on the information provided per focus area (a 'pillar') of the GSES META Standard.
Step 3. Review Your Performance on Your ESG Scorecard
After your certificates have been uploaded and validated, you will be able to review your organization’s sustainability performance against the GSE-Standard through your ESG Scorecard.
Your ESG Scorecard becomes your dashboard for sustainability. Here, you can review your score across all 5 GSES pillars, explore your performance against industry benchmarks, set targets for improvements, and more!
